From the outside, you are managing

Maybe you have the job title and a team and a calendar that never stops.

Maybe you run the house the way you used to run a department. The schedules, the meals, the appointments, the birthday parties that look effortless and were not.

Either way, you are the person everything runs through. Either way, from the outside, you are managing.

And nobody knows that you cried in the car last week and then walked back in and handled the rest of the day perfectly.

You built a life on being the one who does not drop things. So when you feel yourself coming apart, the first thing you do is hide it, and the second thing you do is add it to the list of ways you are failing.

What it actually looks like

It rarely looks like crisis. That is exactly why it goes unaddressed for years.

It looks like holding it together all day and having nothing left for the people you did all of it for. It looks like snapping at your husband over the dishwasher, then lying awake reviewing it. It looks like a mental audit of everything you fell short on today, running on a loop at 11pm while you scroll, because that hour is the only one that belongs to you.

It looks like being told you are so impressive, or so devoted, and feeling like a fraud.

Your body is doing what it was built to do. When it senses too much for too long, it stops asking your thinking brain for input. High functioning is not the same as regulated. You can hit every deadline, run every carpool, and never miss a thing, while your nervous system is in survival mode. You can do it for years.

Why the usual advice has not worked

You have already read the books. You have probably tried the app. You may have had a therapist who told you to set boundaries and practice self-care, and you nodded, because you are good at being a good client too.

Insight is not your problem. You have plenty of insight. You can explain exactly why you are like this.

Understanding a pattern does not shut it off, because the pattern is not happening in the part of your brain that reasons. It is happening underneath that, in a body that decided a long time ago that rest is not safe and stopping is not allowed.

This is nervous system work, and it is still therapy. We look at why your body reacts the way it does before your thinking brain gets a say, and where that pattern came from. Sometimes it traces to how you were raised, the standards you absorbed early, or what you had to do to stay safe or approved of. Sometimes it traces to a relationship, past or current. Sometimes it is something harder, and we go there carefully if it is. The point is not to excavate everything. It is to understand what your body learned, so we can start teaching it something different.

That is where we work.

The part almost no one is telling you

You have probably been told to breathe. To take a bath. To ask for help.

What you probably have not been told is that you cannot regulate a nervous system that is running on coffee and whatever was left on your toddler's plate.

I hold a dual credential: Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified Mental Health Nutrition Clinical Specialist. That second one is rare, and it is the reason most of my clients find me.

Here is what it means in a session.

When you tell me you lose it at 4pm every single day, we do not only talk about your relationship with your mother. We also look at what you ate at noon, and whether you ate at all. Blood sugar crashes and nervous system reactivity are not separate conversations. A body that is undernourished cannot access a regulated state, no matter how good your insight is.

We look at things like protein at breakfast, when you have been surviving on caffeine until two in the afternoon. Postpartum depletion, and the iron, B12, and omega-3 stores that pregnancy and breastfeeding draw down hard. Whether your afternoon rage has a metabolic component underneath the psychological one. Why restriction and chaotic eating both spike the exact reactivity you are trying to calm.

Most therapists will tell you this is outside their scope and refer you elsewhere. Most nutrition professionals have no training in trauma or the nervous system. You end up telling your story twice and getting two halves of an answer.

You do not have to do that here.

This work is offered as nutrition education and psychoeducation within my clinical scope. It is not medical nutrition therapy, and it does not replace care from your physician or a registered dietitian.

Why online matters

You are not going to add a commute and a waiting room to a schedule that is already at capacity.

Sessions are telehealth. Your kitchen table, your home office with the door shut, the twenty minutes after drop-off. A private space and an hour is all it takes.

I see clients throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, including Matthews, Huntersville, Concord, and Davidson, and everywhere else in North Carolina.

Practical details

Private pay. No insurance billing, which means no diagnosis required for reimbursement, and no third party deciding how long we work together. Documentation is available if you want to pursue out of network benefits.

I work with mothers in the postpartum period and long past it. If your youngest is seven and you are still running on empty, you are in the right place.
